The "Web-tools" hosted on this
website are presented by the Elenius Lab ("we," "us,"
or "our") to our users ("user," or "you").
We respect the privacy of our users as well as the
confidentiality of their data. Therefore, through this Privacy
policy we define how we collect, use, disclose, and store your
personal information.
How do we handle your data?
Fundamentally, using our web-tool does require user input of
a DNA sequence and a list of mutations for our web-tool to
design primer sequences. However, we would like re-iterate
that we are committed to protecting your data. To ensure this
a user's input data is only temporarily stored on our server
while their browsing session is active. The files are
permanently deleted immediately after the browsing session
ends (i.e. the user closes their browser tab or there is loss
of internet connectivity between the user's browser and our
server).
Collection and Use of Personal Information
Personal information is any data that can be used to
identify or contact a single person. We do not collect any
personally identifiable information from our users, in fact,
using our web-tools does not require any kind of registration
or entering any personal information.
We do not use any third party analytics software, scripts,
advertising cookies on our website as well as on our server.
What personal information do we collect and how do we receive it?
As mentioned earlier, using our web-tools do not require
entering any personal information from the user. That being
said, we may however, through your explicit actions, receive
your email address, your gitlab username or your twitter
handle in the event you chose to contact us via these or other
media channels to report any bugs / issues / suggestions or
while sending us your valued feedback.
When a user request our servers for the web-tool the firewall
logs their IP address and initiates a new instance of the
requested web-tool exclusively for the user's current browsing
session.
How do we use your personal information?
We might have to use your personal information (voluntarily
provided by you) to respond to your email, tweets or any other
forms of communication which you initiate with us. We are
always happy to hear from our users, but we take the stance to
never pester our respected users by sending feedback requests
or surveys of any kind.
As, mentioned earlier we log the IP address of our users, this
is essential in order to prevent abuse of our limited
resources. We will use this information to block IP addresses
sending unexpectedly large number of traffic our way (results
in inefficient use of our resources by spawning several
concurrent instances of our web-tool). We reserve the right to
block an abusive IP address in order to continue serving our
other users.
